Singapore

Do y'all hear that broken record??  Oh wait, that's just me apologizing again for being so behind on my blogging.  While I may go on blog hiatus from time to time, the good news is that I always come back.  Join me now for a digital trip back to the other side of the world....

We couldn't wait to get back to SE Asia!!  Well, really, Johnnie was already there...so I couldn't wait to get back to SE Asia. :)

My flight left from Cincinnati on Monday, April 4th and I finally arrived in Singapore in the middle of the night on Wednesday, April 6th.

During the 2 weeks that followed, we went on several fun weekend side trips, but Singapore was our home base through it all.  More specifically, the Swissotel Hotel was our "home sweet home."

Before Johnnie left for work each morning, we enjoyed breakfast together at one of the hotel's many restaurants.  Just like my first trip to Asia, not one of my breakfasts were void of dumplings.

View from our room on the 56th floor...not too shabby.  The ship-looking building on the right is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel & Casino (more to come on that) and the giant wheel in the center of the photo is the Singapore Flyer - standing at 165 meters, it is apparently the world's largest observation wheel.  Too bad we didn't take a ride.  :(

Having fun with the zoom lens that the Evans' got us for Christmas.  The tip of the Marina Bay Sands blends right in with the ships out in the bay.

Another hotel room view, from when we stayed on the opposite side of the Soffitel building.  They call the area below (around the water) the Boat Quay - kind of like the San Antonio Riverwalk, for all you Texans.

Here is the CH2M Hill building where Johnnie works when he is in town.  CH2 is the firm contracted by Johnnie's company to design the plant in Malaysia.

While Johnnie was slaving away over spreadsheets, furnace dimensions, and saw angles, I was out gallivanting around Singapore...trying to take more pictures this time (like I promised), but I still don't think I did a very good job.

The Chijmes shopping center...

Little India...

Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple in Little India...

Loved these!  Would have bought one if I knew it wouldn't have died/smooshed in my suitcase.

Durian...I smelled it waaaayy before I spotted the source.  :)

More Little India...

My Indian outfit that I bought for Bob & Kreena's wedding festivities!

When I wasn't gallivanting, I was sunning myself at the Soffitel pool.  But why am I still so pale??

One night, Johnnie and I went out to dinner at the Boat Quay.  On one side of the river, it is nothing but seafood restaurants - all trying to sell you the most ginormous crabs you have ever seen for the "cheapest" price.

I swear this guy looked much bigger in real life!

Get in my belly!!!

Check out the size of his claw (using spoon as a reference)!

On one of our trips through Singapore, we stayed at the luxurious Marina Bay Sands Hotel & Casino.  The place was HUGE...tons and tons of shopping, restaurants, bars, and more.

Driving under the mammoth Sands...

View from the room...

The infinity pool on the top deck of the hotel...sooooo cool!  Literally - the water was so unbelievably cold, we couldn't even bear to swim to the edge of the pool (and it was a scorcher that day!).

Dinner that night was at Pizzeria Mozza - a Mario Batali restaurant.  This was very exciting for me, being the Food Network junkie that I am.

Singapore, thanks again for being our home away from home.  It was great.  Until next time...
