It's been a while since my Chicago post. I know, I know...I said that wouldn't happen again. In my defense, I have been living out of a suitcase for the past 33 days! I am back in Missouri now so I should have plenty of time to FINALLY catch up on the blog (for real, this time). :)
So, let's get down to traveling business...
From Chicago, I hopped in the car and drove through Indiana to Ohio. The plan...hang out in Cincinnati for a week to catch up with friends (and do drive-bys of our old place, because my mom says I'm "sentimental" like that). Johnnie was still traveling for work (which I promise he will tell you about soon) and was going to fly directly to Cinci that weekend -Friday, the 13th of August. :0
While in town, I stayed with our friends Johnny, Gwen, and ADORABLE Baby Jack! Mommy, Baby, and I had so much fun hanging out during the days...
Singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider"...
Holding Jack...
You know Gwen and I HAD to get our craft on... :) Any by the way, I am soooo jealous of her awesome craft room in the basement of their new house! Also, for anyone interested in checking out the crafts, baking, and party-planning blog that Gwen and I started a while back, here is the link: http://www.gandkdesigns.blogspot.com/ . We haven't added anything in a while but I have 2 new baking projects to add in the very near future!
Johnnie and I had just bought our new digital SLR camera before my trip, so I took a TON of pictures of Jack...
...and of Buttercup. :)
On Thursday, Gwen and I participated in the Q102 Backpack Challenge! Q102 is our favorite radio station in Cinci and in particular, we LOVE the morning show with Jeff, Jenn, and Fritsch. Q102 was teaming with Fox19 and Time Warner Cable to collect backpacks and school supplies for kids in the TriState. I'm not going to lie...we were SUPER excited to drop off our supplies and meet Jen Fritsch. She was awesome...although we knew she would be. :)
As I had hoped, I got to see some of my girlfriends during the visit. Being a "foodie," I combined friends and my favorite Cincinnati restaurants. Here is a picture at Green Papaya - delicious Thai. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture the night I met friends at Bella Luna - best bread pudding EVER.
How I miss thee, Green Papaya sushi boat...
Saturday was the "Day of Laina!" :) First, we attended a beautiful bridal shower given by Blaine's (her fiance) family...
With the bride...
Cute (and yummy) favors...
Friends...
So cute!! I will definitely be stealing this idea in the future!!
The self-proclaimed "party planning snobs" gave this shower their stamp of approval!! haha
Laina wasn't very worried about breaking bows...lots of babies in this couple's future! :)
After the shower, Gwen and I met up with the "Three Men & a Baby" at where else would three men and a baby go, but TJ Max! No doubt, this was my Johnnie's idea. He needs a frequent shoppers card, for sure!
And shortly after TJ Max, it was time to get ready for Laina's bachelorette party!! It was a very fun night and although there are hilarious pictures of Laina and friends riding the mechanical bull at Cadillac Ranch, this is the only picture ya'll get!
Like I said, I had just gotten my new camera and was anxious to play around with it. I still have no idea how to use a majority of the functions on the thing, but here are some pics from a photo shoot Gwen and I did one day with Jack...
To the beautiful Payne family...thanks again for letting me "move in" for a week. As always, the hospitality was amazing and I really appreciate it!
To all of our Cinci friends...we miss you more than you know and hope to come and see you all again very soon!!
